‘The spirits made with your spirit in mind’ was the thought process when Abigail Merritt came up with the idea of Chakra Vodka, a product line based on the Chakras. The vodka, however, came sometime after Elysian Desert Distilleries was established. The distillery’s journey began in 2016. Renea McQuiggan along with her husband Michael decided to explore opportunities to grow the produce from their farm to something much bigger. Michael, a long-time scotch and whisky connoisseur, thought of opening up a distillery to use the grains produced on the farm.

Elysian Desert Distilleries was incorporated in March 2017. Since then Abigail Merritt and her husband Stuart have joined the team. The distillery has now become a family affair. The team spent a year on Abigail’s Chakra concept developing 7 flavors of premium vodkas that envelope the ingredients that represent each Chakra. Their excellent line of vodkas speak quality as all eight of their vodkas won a medal at the 2020 Bartender Spirits Awards. 

Chakra Vodka

Chakra is derived from a Sanskrit word that means circle or wheels. The Chakra Vodka is Elysian Desert Distilleries high-end premium vodka that is an alignment of all seven Chakras. A vodka connoisseur’s delight, Chakra Vodka is one of the finest vodkas you will ever sip on. At the 2020 Bartender Spirits Awards, it was awarded a gold medal scoring 90 points. 

Chakra Throat

The Chakra Throat vodka has flavors of lemon and honey. It has a luscious mouthfeel with a hint of sweetness in the finish. It was awarded a silver medal at the competition.

Chakra Crown

The third-highest awarded Chakra flavored vodka at the competition with 86 points, Chakra Crown is based on the Sahasrara chakra. It is the seventh primary chakra in the scheme of things. The vodka has flavors of lychee and coconut that draw you into the beverage. The jasmine hits all the right notes. The flavors of ripe citrus and herbs on the back palate of this award-winning vodka are your connection to the timeless world.

Chakra Heart

Reminiscent of the green herbal tea and flavorful matcha is how we would describe the 85 point silver medal-winning Chakra Heart. The mint in this vodka adds zest and freshness to the mouthfeel. The Heart Chakra is about inner compassion and strong inner peace, one we all hope to find in our lifetime. 

Chakra Solar Plexus

The Solar Plexus Chakra radiates a warm personality, a great sense of humour, and playfulness. The Chakra Solar Plexus Vodka consists of flavors of roasted pineapple and lingering flavors of roasted herbs. It has a smooth finish that arises from a rosemary flavor. The Chakra Solar Plexus was also awarded a silver medal at the 2020 Bartender Spirits Awards scoring 84 points.

Chakra Third Eye

An imaginative flavor combination of grapefruit and lavender make up the Chakra Third Eye. The vodka has a lot of sweet notes that will draw you in. A smooth and crisp vodka that scored 84 points at the competition. This particular chakra is related to being intuitive, optimistic, perceptive and related to good memories. 

Chakra Root

As the name suggests, this chakra is all about staying grounded and well in contact with your roots. The vodka has a very defined taste of red apples and ginger roots in this clean and super-smooth flavored vodka. The zest in this vodka makes it pop. It is a smooth vodka to sip on, very much like the other vodkas in the Chakra product line. 

Chakra Sacral

A pleasant smelling vodka, the Chakra Sacral comes off like vodka-based peach candy. The nose of hibiscuses in the Chakra Sacral makes it a great mixer for cocktails. The flavors make it drinkable on its own as well. Chakra Sacral is a great vodka to explore your cocktail drinking experiences with.

The third-generation Kansas family has worked wonders in a small time of operation and created a unique set of vodkas that are pushing the boundaries. Renea, Michael, Abigail and Stuart are working hard to help people find the perfect vodka to sip on with their line of vodkas based on finding peace within. Elysian Desert Distillery has a tasting room that offers enthusiasts a chance to come in and enjoy the Chakra Vodka series and also their Carefree Bourbon. The timings of the tasting room are 12 pm to 8 pm from Monday to Thursday, from 12 pm to 9 pm on Friday & Saturday and 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday.
