Tenuta la Pineta was founded in 1985 by Giuseppe Scortecci, who was fascinated by the lands that fall between Florence and Arezzo. He created the estate and ever since the family has created wines of the highest order in a lush green area of 110 hectares, in conditions that greatly suit winemaking. Incidentally, the area where Tenuta la Pineta is located was also the birthplace of the Chianti. Through Tenuta la Pineta, the Scortecci family brings a combination of tradition, innovation, and genuine passion that helps them craft their wines which were among the winners at the 2020 USA Wine Ratings.
Three of their wines were awarded the silver medals by the judges after scoring them on three criteria, the quality, the value, and the packaging of the wines.
Bronzante, Toscana Passito IGT: An intense and complex ruby red wine produced with dried grapes, the Bronzante scored 88 points at the 2020 USA Wine Ratings. A perfect wine to pair with a great conversation, the Bronzante is fruity and warm and has a nice acidity to it. It contains cherries and other wild berries and there is a spicy background to this consistent wine that pairs well with roasted meat, blue cheese, and pastries.
Sasso Bisciaio, Chianti DOCG: A very traditional wine made from Sangiovese and Canaiolo grapes, the Sasso Bisciaio scored 86 points from the judges. Aged for 1 year in cement tanks, the Sasso Bisciaio a ruby/garnet color and is medium-deep and persistent. It goes well with white and red meat, seafood, and long-aged cheeses which makes it a very good choice to pair with a wholehearted meal at the dinner table.
Il Guido, Chianti Superiore DOCG: Oak-aged and full-bodied chianti Superiore, the Il Guido also scored 86 points at the 2020 USA Wine Ratings. It is a deep and persistent wine with a fruity flavor and pairs well with grilled and roasted red meat. At the nose, one can experience a balsamic and flower scent to this deep and intense wine.

Apart from their fantastic wines, another enticing aspect of Tenuta la Pineta is the wine tours they offer. From a guided tour of the winery to great food and wine tasting experience that includes three wines, olive oil, and a side bread, the tour costs 15 euros per person and takes you on a journey through the winery’s history and surroundings. You can also opt for a personalized tour for which you will have to contact the winery directly. There are many places to visit around the winery.
